Actions to protest state budget cuts to education have been planned for today (March 4) with a walkout and rally at Laney College, and plans to join rallies in Oakland and San Francisco later in the day.
According to a state budget analysis prepared by the 'NoEdCuts Coalition,' a public education advocacy group based at Berkeley City College, over $840 million has been cut from community college funding in California over the past two years.

ASLC voted Feb. 17 to endorse the Peralta District's 'Safe Sanctuary Resolution,' which states that Peralta district will not use its resources to assist the federal agents in arresting undocumented students on its campuses.
They decided not to support a proposal for the creation of a district-wide council, which would be made up of students from all four Peralta campuses, who would meet to discuss issues facing Peralta students such as the EasyPass.

AC Transit will implement changes to its bus routes starting March 28, according to the company's website. Several lines will be reconfigured and a few will be cut entirely. Overall, the service will be reduced by between 8.4 and 15 percent.
The service cuts are an attempt by AC Transit to balance its budget in the current recession.
Lobby area popular campus hangout

Due to disruptive behavior, students are no longer allowed to hang out in the lobby area of the Laney College Theater.
Jim Cave, the stage and production supervisor of the Theater Department, said he has dealt with unruly student behavior since the start of the semester.
