Pallid bat. This bat lives in the southwest. It hunts on the ground which is very unusual. It eats scorpions, centipedes and crickets.
Hoary bat. This bat is more or less solitary. It hangs out in leaves. It eats moths, flies, termites, dragon flies and wasps. Its furry coat keeps it from freezing all throughout the winter months. Hoary bats have flown distances of 3,000 miles over open sea.
Myotis Yumonensis. AKA Screech. This bat eats 600 mosquitos an hour, it chews 7 times a second and digests every 20 minutes. The one pictured in the newspaper is two years old and it is full-grown.
