On April 28-29, Peralta students voted on Proposition B on the district wide ballot. The measure asked if students wanted to pay a one dollar fee for "student government to advocate on your behalf."
The purpose of the one dollar fee is for student government to present students before governmental bodies.
Revenue can be used to travel to and from conferences sponsored by student organizations where legislative matters will be discussed.
Students may refuse to pay the fee for religious, political, financial or moral reasons.
Sixty-four percent of students voted in favor of the measure, while 36 per cent voted against. A two-thirds majority is required for the measure to pass, according to California Education Code.
