The microwaves on the ground floor in the Laney College Student Center were broken for the entire semester this past fall.
For nearly six months students had to either wait in line for the one working microwave on the third floor, or forgo heating their food.
This semester; however, the microwaves purchased by ASLC have arrived (and work).
Juan Gutierrez, whose leg is currently in a brace that restricts his mobility, appreciated the microwaves being replaced.
“There’s no more big lines,” Gutierrez said. “I don’t have to go to the third floor.”
ASLC VP Harry Jiang, who was charged with replacing the microwaves, was pleased that students finally had microwaves.
“It took a long time,” Jiang said, referring to ASLC having to wait on the Business Office and the campus’ Administration. “Hopefully students don’t have to wait as long anymore.”
At press time, ironically, the microwave on the third floor is no longer working. At least this time, students won’t have to go up the stairs.
